Kevin Burns is the creator and executive producer of the hit TV series, “Ancient Aliens.” Launched in the U.S. in 2009, “Ancient Aliens” has become and international hit and is seen around the world.
Over the past two decades, Burns has produced more than 800 hours of diverse and dynamic television programming. His work can be seen on History, WEtv, A&E, Travel Channel, E!, Bravo, Animal Planet, National Geographic Channel, AMC -- and more.
In 1993, while working as an executive at Twentieth Century Fox Television, Burns co-founded Foxstar Productions where he developed and produced a series of “Alien Nation” movies for television. In 1994, Burns founded Van Ness Films, a subsidiary of Foxstar, where he produced 166 episodes of the hit series “Biography” for A&E as well as dozens of Hollywood-related documentaries for AMC and other cable networks.
In 1999, Burns founded Prometheus Entertainment where he continued to create and produce film and television programming, most notably “The Girls Next Door,” for E! and “Kendra on Top” for WEtv, “America’s Book of Secrets” and “In Search of Aliens” for H2, and the popular History channel series “Ancient Aliens” and “The Curse of Oak Island.”
Also in 1999, Burns, in partnership with feature film executive Jon Jashni, founded Synthesis Entertainment where the two began developing and producing remakes and sequels of the popular Irwin Allen movies and television series (“Lost in Space,” “The Time Tunnel,” “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea,” etc.), including the feature film version of “Poseidon” in 2006. In 2016, Synthesis joined Legendary Entertainment in launching the new “Lost in Space” series that premiered on Netflix in 2018 and is currently in its second season.
Joining Prometheus in 2005, Kim Sheerin has been vital to the efficiency and quality of all non-fiction productions and operations at the company. As Chief Operating Officer, she spearheads all day-to-day operations while strategically focusing on operational efficiency and fiscal oversight across the company. Prior to her role as Chief Operating Officer, Sheerin served as Executive Vice President where she directed all company financial affairs and oversaw all aspects of production. Previously, Sheerin was, with Burns, the co-founder of Van Ness Films, Foxstar Productions’ physical production arm.
Joe Lessard Executive Vice President / Development & Production
As a key member of Prometheus Entertainment since 2005, Joe Lessard has served the company in nearly all areas of production from field to post, and is now instrumental in both the development and production of Prometheus Entertainment’s slate of more than 75 hours of programming each year.
Having worked closely with Kevin Burns and Kim Sheerin to help create some of the company’s most successful series to date, he is an Executive Producer of “The Curse of Oak Island,” “Drilling Down,” and “The Curse of Civil War Gold.”
Lessard also spearheads all scripted development for Prometheus. In 2009, he wrote the independent horror feature, “The Telling” starring “The Girls Next Door” alums Bridget Marquardt and Holly Madison.
